2018 fontosabb erdős cikkei 2

20018. május. 5.
Ezzel szemben a Romsilva 30.000 m³ kitermelését hagyja jóvá évente a park területén.

2018, Romania - Domogled - Valea Cernei National Park
While primary forests have gradually disappeared from the European natural heritage, Romania still have some great forests formed after the last ice age. They remained untouched till recently. Political incompetence and corporate greed puts these forests under immediate threat. Only about 10% of all primary forests were included in the national catalog for the virgin forests. The public funds allocated years ago to map and preserve these forests have been used for other purposes. The situation is out of control.
Deep wild, in the Cernisoara river basin, an untouched forest in Domogled park is so unspoiled that not even an old trail could be found to explore these paradise forests. It may remind well equipped visitors of scenes from Jurassic Park. But those who own the Cernisoara forests and should protect it decided to cut it. It is the Romanian State itself through the Ministry for Environment, Ministry for Forests and the state forests manager, Romsilva. Cuting started in 2017 and more is planned in 2018.

The eradication of primeval forests in Romania is Europe's biggest and most pressing nature conservation drama today. But almost nobody is taking notice. If no action is taken now, many of these valuable forests will be gone within the next 2 to 3 years.

EuroNatur and Agent Green call on the Romanian government to immediately halt commercial logging in all Romanian national parks, to include all primeval and old growth forests in national parks in the core zones and to adopt a modern, independent and well-funded national park management system.
Also the EU needs to get proactively engaged in saving this precious European natural heritage.

"The forest itself demands to be cut". This is the meaningful answer of the one who is now for more than 10 years the director of the administration of Romania's largest and most degraded national park, Domogled - Valea Cernei. He was asked by Agent Green activists for the reason for logging in a national park. The arguments took place on May 26th when Agent Green activists surprised Romsilva officials while showing an Austrian MEP the beauty of the park. The protest took place in the area of Cernisoara, the last wild valley of the park where at least 2 plots are scheduled to be logged in 2018. The first 2 plots have been cut in 2017 and the activists took the Romsilva officials and the MEP to see the illegalities. Agent Green calls on the romanian environemntal ministry to stop logging in all 13 national parks of Romania whose forests cover no more than 1% of the country's surface.(Agent Green /Facebook)

Kahlschlag in Rumäniens Urwäldern

Nationalparks in Gefahr.

FRISSÍTVE: Házkutatást tartottak az ügyészek a Schweighofer gyáraiban
Öt megyében és Bukarestben tartottak szerdán összesen 23 házkutatást a szervezett bűnözés és terrorizmus elleni ügyészség (DIICOT) ügyészei, olyan intézményeknél és személyeknél, amelyeket azzal gyanúsítanak, hogy a közbeszerzések elcsalására, adócsalásra és illegális fakitermelésre szakosodott bűnszervezet tagjai. A becsült kár 25 millió euró.

A DIICOT a Schweighofernél tart házkutatást

Forest destruction in Romania: Large-scale raid against criminal network started
In the early morning of May 30, 2018, officials of the Romanian anti-mafia prosecution office DIICOT began a large-scale investigation against illegal practices in the wood industry in Romania. The DIICOT press release announces: “Public prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism have together with police officers within the Public Order Department and the Department of Economic Crime conducted 23 house searches in five districts of the country and in Bucharest.” The press release speaks of a “destructive action by an organized criminal group” specializing in offenses of misappropriation of public wood and also auctions, tax evasion, unfair competition, deforestation and other offenses. “

Waldzerstörung in Rumänien: Großangelegte Razzia gegen kriminelles Netzwerk angelaufen
Romania’s security forces have mounted a series of raids to break up an alleged €25m illegal logging ring, in what is believed to be the largest operation of its kind yet seen in Europe. Officers from Romania’s Directorate for Investigation of Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) swooped on 23 addresses – including factories owned by the Austrian timber group Schweighofer Holzindustrie, according to local press reports.

A műalkotást elkobozták, jelenleg a Maros Megyei Múzeumban őrzik.

Célkeresztben a Schweighofer - Romániában fellépnek a szervezett bűnözés ellen
In the Carpathians, the largest remaining primeval forests in the EU are in danger. A unique natural heritage is disappearing inexorably, and only small parts remain protected. Unclear rules set by Romanian authorities and the suspicion of corruption in the forest management authorities have promoted ruthless deforestation. In addition, there are international timber companies that happily help themselves to illegally cut wood in Romania.

Illegal Loggers Are Decimating Romania’s Virgin Forests, Say Green Groups
Even protected areas aren't safe as some of Europe's largest primeval woodlands come under threat
Even after decades of rampant deforestation, Romania is still home to more than half of Europe's primeval woodlands, some 6.5 million hectares of old-growth temperate climate forests. As a result, some of the Old Continent's largest populations of brown bears, wolves, lynxes, and wildcats live in the country. Still, the Eastern European country is losing 62,000 hectares of this forest annually, or roughly 3 hectares per hour, much of it due illegal logging. Either as raw logs or as processed timber, nearly all of this wood somehow finds its way out of the country, to places like Northern Africa and Western Europe.

Behind The Scenes: How Log Yards Hide the Destruction of Europe's Ancient Forests
EIA's Report Behind the Scenes takes detailed look at how the Austrian timber giant Holzindustrie Schweighofer, one of the largest wood processors in Romania, continues to fuel the destruction of Europe’s last old growth forests, in spite of five years of pledges not to source timber from national parks or protected areas.

"EIA’s investigation has determined that Schweighofer’s log suppliers have transported over 35,000 m3 of timber from just two national parks in the 18 months from January 2017 to June 2018. One of Schweighofer’s largest Romanian suppliers of wood is called Frasinul. Frasinul cuts wood in numerous sites in national parks and operates numerous log yards nearby, from which it sells logs to Schweighofer. Frasinul has a history of legal troubles; its CEO has been under investigation by Romania’s anticorruption authorities since 2014."

Hárítja a felelősséget a Schweighofer?
A Romániában évek óta vizsgálódó környezetvédelmi ügynökség azzal vádolja a Holzindustrie Schweighofer osztrák fafeldolgozót, hogy továbbra is átveszi a romániai nemzeti parkokban kivágott fát.

Tovább fosztogatja a romániai erdőket a Schweighofer

A legnagyobb magánbirtokos a svéd IKEA, 48 ezer hektárral.

Mit hozott a Holzindustrie Schweighofer Székelyföldnek?

Six years later, a criminal investigation into illegal environment permits finally begins in Romania
In 2012, almost one hundred permits were issued to Oltenia Energy Complex (OEC), allowing the company to cut down hectares of forest to make way for coal mines. The permits were issued illegally, however, as Bankwatch Romania proved in court over the past six years. After many lawsuits and complaints to the relevant authorities, a sign of progress came this summer when the Romanian Ministry for Environment informed criminal investigation bodies about this situation.
